Billy Clements, who plays Ramrod in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, has revealed that he originally had a more fleshed-out role in the new Spider-Man movie.
Clements – who also portrayed 'The Russian' in Deadpool and Wolverine – wrote on Instagram of his experience, "A lot of Ramrod's stuff was cut, but they had to cut out 3 hours and a lot more recognised actors were totally cut out… Really happy to be there if only for a bit."
The actor also added that he studied all of Ramrod's comic book appearances (presumably including The Amazing Spider-Man #221, which is recreated in the movie by director Destin Daniel Cretton) to represent the character as "accurately" as possible.
Ramrod appears during the opening act's montage of Spider-Man's crimefighting antics, including taking down the likes of Boomerang, Tarantula, and Scorpion.
While speculation may run rampant over who didn't make the cut (Keith David, after all, is only part of one background voiceover moment), we're pretty confident that Claire Temple actor Rosario Dawson is one of them.
Temple, the confidant and nurse to so many of the MCU's street-level heroes, could have conceivably appeared during the dramatic events of the Spider-Man: Brand New Day ending. No spoilers here. But if you know, you know.
Speaking at GalaxyCon, Dawson stated she "shot a scene" for Brand New Day but it "got cut out."
Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits US cinemas on July 31, but is now out in some territories.
