Our favorite budget Switch 2 controller just hit its lowest-ever price — perfect for your new Christmas gift
As low as $25 for this affordable pick
If you've just been gifted (or bought yourself) a brand-new Nintendo Switch 2, and are now making a wish-list of accessories for it, your timing couldn't be better. One of its best-value controllers has just hit its lowest-ever retail price.
I'm talking about the usually-$39.99 PowerA Advantage Nintendo Switch 2 controller, which is enjoying some hefty discounts. The new price ranges quite a bit by color option, but on a certain model it's down to $24.99 at Amazon, and close to that for other versions.
PowerA Advantage Nintendo Switch 2 controller: wired, Mario Party┃$39.99 $24.99 at Amazon
Save $15 - The Mario Party-themed PowerA Advantage has never been cheaper, or hit this price before since reaching it in mid-December. In fact we've never seen any color option go this low before, and now several are between $27 and $29.
UK: £20.99 at Amazon
Earning only three stars in our review, it'd be a stretch to call the PowerA Advantage the best Nintendo Switch 2 controller of all time. However there's still a good reason to buy it; we've crowned it the best budget option, for people who don't need a top-dollar option and instead prefer value.
The PowerA has all the buttons and features of a Switch 2 controller, as well as some extra audio controls and hall effect thumbsticks. The version featured in this deal is wired, so battery life isn't a concern.
Our issues are things that you'd expect from a cheap option: it has no rumble, feels cheap to hold and has a few odd button placements. If you've ever used a cheap alternative to a console controller before, you'll know what to expect.
Should you buy the PowerA Advantage Nintendo Switch 2 controller?
The PowerA Advantage Nintendo Switch 2 controller is discounted pretty frequently, but in my research I couldn't find evidence of it ever having hit $24.99 before. That's for the Mario Party controller admittedly, but the black option is discounted to $27.30 and again I can't see any option (other than Mario) hitting that price before.
Over 2026, we'll probably see other color options hit the $25 mark, but if you're wanting an affordable Switch 2 controller now, it's unlikely to get substantially cheaper - we're already at the bottom end of the market, after all.
If you're a Mario fan it's an easy buy, and the black model for $2 more is great value too. The bright Lumectra White and equally-Mario Mushroom Kingdom are both at $29.99, which is still a solid $10 saving.
We rate the official Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller as the best controller for the console, but that's an infrequently discounted $89.99 MSRP. Some other good-value alternatives like the $59.99 8BitDo Ultimate 2 are also good picks for budget-conscious buyers, but that's still over twice the price of the reduced PowerA.
