GameSir launches the reborn Tarantula Pro controller for PC and Xbox players, but Amazon stock is "expected at a later date"

The Tarantula returns with an 8K polling rate to take on the Wolverine V3 Pro and GameSir G7 Pro

GameSir initially revealed its revived Tarantula controller range back in April, but we haven't heard a peep about it since. It now seems the first two of the Series are ready to drop, as the 8K polling rate model for PC players and the officially licensed Xbox model are now available to buy via GameSir's store. The best PC controller rival is a reworked version of the GameSir Tarantula Pro that adorned the shelves a few years ago.

The GameSir Tarantula 8K PC model follows the suit of more advanced TMR controllers that have launched since the original Tarantula Pro's sudden retirement. The Razer Wolverine V3 Pro's PC variant and an updated GameSir G7 Pro both have 8,000Hz polling rates, which the PC version of the new Tarantula will also feature.

Of course, this gamepad is known for its symmetrical TMR sticks, which this time are updated with Gen-2 Mag-Res TMR tech. In my review of the G7 Pro 8K, I found these sticks to be excellent, but the 8K polling rate made them highly sensitive, which takes some getting used to.

The new Tarantula Pros are priced at $69.99 / £79.99 at GameSir's website, but as has been the case with a lot of the brand's new launches in 2026, stock at Amazon and other retailers is yet to come. Based on previous launches, I'd expect it to arrive in a month or two.

Upgrading from the original Tarantula Pro, the face buttons, D-pad, and trigger stops of the new PC model feature clicky microswitches that have a quoted lifespan of up to 5 million clicks.

GameSir says this iteration of the Tarantula has been built for competitive players, with that 8K polling rate and a lightweight design at the forefront of its development. It weighs 180g with a 0.25ms latency. It also has six-axis gyro controls for those who prefer that method of aiming. The Xbox version will work on PC but will be limited to a 1,000Hz polling rate.

Interestingly, both the Xbox and PC versions seem to be limited to wired play only, which is a step down from the original Tarantula Pro's wireless play on Switch and PC.

The new Tarantula Pros carries over the two back buttons from the original, as well as mappable face buttons (including a touchpad button). There are now two additional shoulder paddles for you to use and assign as well.

The 8K PC model has a vibrant orange colorway and a special edition MenaRD version. Judging by the continual colorway support of the brand's G7 Pro controllers, I'd expect more to follow in due course.

An ultra model with a slightly heavier weight due to the inclusion of vibration motors is also confirmed to be coming soon. If you prefer a heftier feel in the hands, that's the one I'd wait for.

As of yet, we don't have a confirmed release date for the Ultra model.

One of my earliest memories is playing SuperMario64 and wondering why the controller I held had three grips, but I only had two hands. Ever since I've been in love with video games and their technology. After graduating from Edinburgh Napier University with a degree in Journalism, I contributed to the Scottish Games Network and completed an Editorial Internship at Expert Reviews. Over the last decade, I’ve been managing my own YouTube channel about my love of games too. These days, I'm one of the resident hardware nerds at GamesRadar+, and I take the lead on our coverage of gaming PCs, VR, controllers, gaming chairs, and content creation gear. Now, I better stop myself here before I get talking about my favourite games like HUNT: Showdown, Dishonored, and Towerfall Ascension.
