Releasing at the tail end of February, Resident Evil Requiem has already made waves among horror fans and longtime lovers of Capcom's series alike for its action-packed gameplay and solid story – more so than any other Resident Evil, apparently.
Not only did Resident Evil Requiem set a series record on Steam within an hour of launch, hitting a peak of 260,000 concurrent players, but Capcom now reveals that it's also reached another milestone for the beloved RE name – it's hit a whopping six million sales in under a month.
17 days, to be precise, have passed since what might just be one of the best new games of 2026 launched on February 27.
Capcom unveils the achievement in a public letter from Haruhiro Tsujimoto, president and COO of the company. "Worldwide sales of Resident Evil Requiem, released on February 27, 2026, now exceed six million units, which is the fastest that a title in the series has reached this milestone," it reads.
Future plans for the smash hit come up, too, with Capcom outlining "plans to implement several measures" later down the line.
These include "ongoing support and additional game content," which lines up nicely with what Resident Evil Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi himself recently said – that a story expansion to "delve deeper into the world," a photo mode, and a brand-new minigame are underway.
These are certainly exciting times for Resident Evil stans, it seems, and it's all unfolding ahead of the series' 30th anniversary.
Capcom notes that the big Resident Evil birthday, marking decades of hopeful Leon shippers, is on March 22 – mere days away now. The studio says it's "readying various plans for this anniversary to delight series fans," further adding to all the excitement.
I, for one, am not too surprised to see Resident Evil Requiem doing so well already, though. Our own Resident Evil Requiem review dubs it "a soaring piece of survival horror theater," after all.

After spending years with her head in various fantastical realms' clouds, Anna studied English Literature and then Medieval History at the University of Edinburgh, going on to specialize in narrative design and video game journalism as a writer. She has written for various publications since her postgraduate studies, including Dexerto, Fanbyte, GameSpot, IGN, PCGamesN, and more. When she's not frantically trying to form words into coherent sentences, she's probably daydreaming about becoming a fairy druid and befriending every animal or she's spending a thousand (more) hours traversing the Underdark in Baldur's Gate 3. If you spot her away from her PC, you'll always find Anna with a fantasy book, a handheld video game console of some sort, and a Tamagotchi or two on hand.
