Persona 6 boss wants his games to be like "poison," something "that shakes people's values or gives them something to think about"
Kazuhisha Wada's games will continue to forge their own path
People looking for any morsel of info about Persona 6 will be happy to know that the director and series producer Kazuhisha Wada is happy to oblige.
Speaking to Famitsu (and reported by TheGamer), Wada explained some of his philosophy when it comes to making games. Specifically, he was asked about what challenges he wants to take on in the future and what he would tell other game developers.
"Fundamentally, as a creator, I'm not very interested in things that are neither good nor bad," he said. "That's why, while facing various risks and constraints, we've tried to deliver something like a poison that leaves a strong impression. Of course, this isn't just about sensationalism or extremism, but something that shakes people's values or gives them something to think about."
Even though Wada doesn't directly connect this to Persona 6, he's described the Persona games as a form of "poison" before. In 2024, he talked about trying to make games widely appealing but still distinct and compared it to "serving players deadly poison wrapped in sweet coating."
Wada routinely makes games that surprise people and I doubt Persona 6 will be any different. The hardest part will be waiting to see what kind of poison he's slipped into it. Persona 6 doesn't currently have a release date. All we know is that it will be rated M and seems to have some horror vibes.
Persona 4 Revival removes fan-favorite line, leaving fans hoping for a certain new love interest in shambles: "We definitely aren't getting that romance"
