Rockstar gives free GTA 5 upgrades to PS4 and Xbox One players ahead of GTA Online's next heist in July and GTA 6 in November
Sadly, no free PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, as far as I can see
Rockstar has revealed that GTA Online's next criminal caper, The Kortz Center Heist, is coming in July, and better yet – anyone who owns GTA 5 on the PS4 or Xbox One is getting a free upgrade.
In a new blog post, Rockstar says GTA Online will be "brimming with ways to prepare" for the new heist in the coming weeks. "Whether you're looking to refine your real estate portfolio with a Mansion property to ultimately host your own solo Heists or gearing up as part of a larger crew, stay tuned for special events featuring bonus GTA$ rewards, record-breaking discounts, and opportunities to claim rare and exclusive treasures through the Fine Art Collector program," the post reads.
As for the heist itself, Rockstar says you'll need to add the Art Studio to your mansion before scoping out the Kortz Center and deciding how to tackle your multi-stage heist so that you might come away with plenty of priceless works that might fetch you a small fortune in GTA bucks.
And that's not all. Rockstar also says that, starting tomorrow, anyone who owns the PS4 or digital Xbox One version of GTA 5 will be able to upgrade to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions at no additional cost. If you actually own one of those consoles, you'll get to enjoy plenty of benefits, such as technical improvements, Hao's Special Works high-performance vehicles and upgrades, and more.
Amusingly, I'm already seeing some people caught out, thinking that Rockstar might have been announcing something GTA 6-shaped here, but no – the likes of GTA and Red Dead Online continue as Rockstar aims to keep the lights on. Thankfully, with GTA 6 marketing kicking off in the summer, you won't be waiting long for your turn.

I joined GamesRadar+ in May 2022 following stints at PCGamesN and PocketGamer.Biz, with some freelance for Kotaku UK, RockPaperShotgun, and VG24/7 thrown in for good measure. When I'm not running the news team on the games side, you'll find me putting News Editor duties to one side to play the hottest JRPG of 20 years ago or pillaging the depths of Final Fantasy 14 for a swanky new cloak – the more colourful, the better.
