Generating one billion of anything is an impressive feat. Whether it's song or TV show streams, or copies of something sold, that's around one eighth of the world's population accounted for; just mind-boggling. Among Us, the perennial space-based, party game, has managed to garner that amount of downloads just from one store, and Innersloth isn't sure how to react.
The studio posts about the achievement on Twitter. "Yooooooooooooooo we recently hit 1 BILLION downloads on the Google Play store," the post exclaims. "That's so many crewmates... thank you for playing…"
The poster says they're going to "barf in a vent," because "that is so cool." I don't blame them one bit, that's a lot of players – unfathomable, really, and to imagine them all interacting with and playing a project you've worked on must summon some amount of anxiety.

Innersloth jokes in the replies about the scale of its audience. "1/8 of the world are Crewmates... or Impostors... hard to say...," it says, when the true answer is we've all been both.
This comes with the caveat that it's individual downloads, presumably including people who've deleted it and reinstalled however many times, or folks with the game installed on multiple devices. I don't play on mobile, but I've done it on Steam numerous times, because I only play occasionally with friends, and I'd imagine many others are the same.
Even still, one billion – 1,000,000,000 – is an astronomic achievement, and this is just one particular storefront. Among Us is available on numerous platforms, putting the overall number much higher again, though it seems unlikely any are very close to the Google Play store since everyone and their technophobic gran has a touch screen phone these days.
Quite an achievement in just under eight years. I wonder where it'll be when the game turns ten. Whatever the number is, I hope it's still the same slightly janky experience, because if it's not broken, do not fix it.
