It's been months since we heard anything substantial about The Duskbloods, FromSoftware's upcoming Switch 2 exclusive action RPG. Conspicuously absent from a recent, partner-focused Nintendo Direct, it's been anyone's guess what's going on with the game. But while we still lack finer details, the mysterious project remains on course to arrive this year, according to financial forecasts.

During an earnings call, Kadokawa, the owner of FromSoftware, included The Duskbloods on one of the slides under "eagerly awaited" new games. According to the presentation, it's still due to arrive in 2026. In follow-up questions, no more specific information was provided.

To summarize: The Duskbloods will come out in 2026, but we don't know when, nor when we might get a further look at what FromSoftware's up to. Well, as someone who was in this line of work in the years following the reveal of Elden Ring, this all feels very familiar, and I’m sure many From fans are feeling the same.

There's quite a lot of anticipation for The Duskbloods, since it's FromSoftware's first Nintendo exclusive since Lost Kingdoms 2 in 2003. Even industry stalwarts have high hopes for it. What little we do know paints a grim picture about what kind of game it is.

Vampires are involved, known as Bloodsworn, but it'll be more on the gothic romance side of their mythology than pure horror. Humanity is almost totally wiped out, and the central conceit is superpowered, vampiric beings duking it out. There'll be an emphasis on PvP as well as PvE, but we'll have to wait and see what this all means in context.

But it's coming this year, at least! Watch this space.

Ex Sony exec Shuhei Yoshida says "of course" The Duskbloods will "be great," but it and Elden Ring Nightreign present a "new challenge" for FromSoftware and boss Hidetaka Miyazaki
