The best skills in Beast of Reincarnation, especially early on when you're getting to grips with the game's combat and skillset, are those that are most economical. That is to say, which skills and abilities are you going to be using the most and will make the greatest difference going forward? I found that investing in Koo over Emma early on was a superior choice, as while Emma is basically as good as your reflexes, Koo being largely AI controlled means you'll need to give him as good a chance as possible. With that in mind, here's the best skills and abilities in Beast of Reincarnation for both characters to get first, and what makes them so good early on.

What are the best skills to get first in Beast of Reincarnation?
Below we've broken down some of the early skills you should get off the skill tree in Beast of Reincarnation, for both Emma and Koo.
- Best Emma Skills
- Blade Art: Shakuyaku: With how often you'll use this basic attack, you should upgrade it early and often.
- Sprout Shakuyaku (Hair): A combination attack, binding effect and grapple point that can be deployed in combat is a versatile option, though has limited impact on some bosses.
- Tracking Shot: A massive damage and accuracy increase to ranged attacks that makes your ranged weapons much more viable in combat, with tracking, piercing and increased damage.
- Best Koo Skills
- Higanbana: Seeds: A simple basic attack that's worth upgrading, as the ability to inflict burning on enemies is very good against stronger enemies and works in most situations.
- Mod: Swamp Summoner (Incantation): Slowing swamps that impede enemy movement are a good bonus for Koo to be throwing out, buying you time and control.
- Taunt (Pounce): Koo draws in attacks from nearby enemies. Very useful against boss fights.
Considering that Koo is more of a controlled NPC and therefore skill-dependant than Emma, it's honestly arguably more important to focus on Koo's skillset than Emma's early on, as so long as Emma can parry and dodge, she can make her way through most of the early encounters. Still, you shouldn't neglect Emma - I'm only saying that if you have the skill points for one or the other, it probably doesn't hurt to prioritize Koo in the early phases.
As you defeat Nushi bosses and reach certain story milestones, you'll unlock more skills and powers that can be added to the existing skill trees, such as the Sakura Storm and Javelin, unlocked after the Beast of Reincarnation Rangifer boss fight. Make sure to consider these when progressing, as some are very good - the Javelin power in particular.
