The PS5 is right around the corner, and we're getting to that point where players are decided which games to play on launch day and beyond, and thankfully we're a bit spoiled for choice in that regard.

You've got all of the upcoming PS5 games to look forward to, not to mention the massive list of backward-compatible PS4 games. Then, a number of PS4 games are getting PS5 upgrades which will be free to anyone with a copy of the PS4 game. There are a number of developers who plan on charging for their PS5 upgrades, but we're going to be focusing on the ones that are free if you have the game on PS4.

We'll also be continuing to update this list as we learn more, so keep tabs for the most up-to-date account of free PS5 upgrades.

Interestingly, the kind of PS5 upgrades games should expect to see when played on PS5 seems to range from game to game. Most developers are touting improved visuals and performance, including some references to 4K 60FPS targets, while others are a little vaguer. Thankfully, what seems consistent is that all your progress will carry over, meaning no need to start from scratch to take advantage of those tasty PS5 benefits. Of course, you may well want to - and we wouldn't blame you for some of these classics - but it's good to know that it's not essential.

For more reasons to get excited about Sony's next-generation, check out the list of all confirmed upcoming PS5 games while we wait for more news on the PS5 price so we can get our PS5 pre-order in.
