With the first Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer arriving today, Marvel Studios has been dropping some images teasing what's to come in the new Spidey movie. You can catch up with all of them in our Spider-Man: Brand New Day live trailer launch day news guide, but in the meantime fans are discussing one key detail spotted in one of the teasers, which could have major ramifications for Daredevil: Born Again season 2.
Mumbai-based actor Ashish Chanchlani shared a clip of the upcoming movie which sees MJ and Ned watching on TV as Spider-Man is being handed the key to the city, presumably by the new mayor of New York. However, that's not Wilson Fisk we see on screen! Assuming Spider-Man 4 is set after the events of the Disney Plus show, and that this brief teaser is not a flashback, it would seem like Fisk will be out of a job by the end of Born Again season 2.

Would Marvel Studios make this kind of mistake one week before the release of the new season of Daredevil: Born Again? Or is there more to the story than we know at the moment?
Some fans think it might a promotional stunt. "Smart af of them to put this in the trailer and subtly hype Daredevil for next week," wrote one on Twitter, while others think this cannot be after season 2: "Thing is though, we never saw or heard who was Mayor before Fisk, so this could be before born again."
On Reddit some fans agree with the flashback theory, even speculating that this scene feels like a 'what I’ve been up to since' montage set to play at the start of the movie, while others think that the woman in the clip could be Fisk's "assistant", simply standing in for her boss.
We might get more answers after the first trailer drops later today, along with (hopefully) some answers about the Marvel timeline and how the film will set up the events of Avengers: Doomsday, which is releasing in December.
Although Marvel is still keeping most of the film's secrets very carefully, we got an official if rather cryptic synopsis last month. It reads, "Things are going well for our anonymous hero until an unusual trail of crimes pulls him into a web of mystery larger than he’s ever faced before… Spider-Man not only needs to be at the top of his physical and mental game, but he must also be prepared to face the repercussions of his past!"

Tom Holland is back as Peter Parker aka Spider-Man, along with Zendaya as Michelle Jones-Watson, aka MJ, and Jacob Batalon as Ned. Jon Bernthal's The Punisher and Mark Ruffalo's The Hulk will also be joining the fun, while Marvel has yet to reveal Stranger Things star Sadie Sink's mysterious character.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 26. For more, check out our ranking of the best Spider-Man movies, and stay up to date on all the upcoming Marvel movies and shows that are in the works.
