The Rings of Power season 3 is bringing in a major Lord of the Rings character who's been controversially missing until now

It's taken three seasons, but a major Lord of the Rings character is finally debuting in The Rings of Power season 3.

Celeborn, husband of Galadriel, will be introduced in season 3 and played by Jamie Campbell Bower, as revealed by Empire magazine. Bower's role has been completely secret up till now.

Speaking to the magazine, Bower described Celeborn as a "lover-boy" and says his relationship with Galadriel is inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien and his wife Edith.

"This idea of longing and yearning is so pervasive in Tolkien's relationship with Edith for the time that they were apart," he said. "I really feasted on that idea. Celeborn has had to find a way to survive whilst longing for something that he so dearly loved and so dearly missed as well."

Galadriel and Celeborn have been separated for hundreds of years, so it certainly seems like a joyous reunion is on the cards.

"He has this voice that is rich and hypnotic and sonorous that feels it has the wisdom of the ages buried inside of it," co-showrunner J.D. Payne shared. "And then we did a chemistry read [with Clark], and instantly it just felt like he loved her so much. It felt so natural, and so organic, and so right."

A new – and very romantic – picture of the duo has also been released, which you can see below.
