Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time is getting a second life on the screen following Prime Video's cancellation of its live-action adaptation, as a series of animated movies and shows as well as a video game, all from Arcane animated series producer Thomas Vu through his company iwot Studios.
This should be good news for fans, as Arcane is considered one of the best animated fantasy shows of all time. Vu has already released his first concept art for The Wheel of Time's main character Rand al'Thor, seen below via Variety:
New 'Wheel of Time' Animated Series, Feature Films and Video Game in the Works From 'Arcane,' 'League of Legends' Producer Thomas Vu (EXCLUSIVE) https://t.co/1BCwHmxZqdMarch 19, 2026
These new animated projects and the new video game are in addition to a pair of previously announced Wheel of Time films, a 3D movie titled The White Tower and director Kari Skogland's live-action movie Age of Legends, as well as another AAA open world RPG, though they won't be connected.
"I see tremendous opportunity in expanding 'The Wheel of Time' into fully authentic, integrated, interactive, and animated storytelling experiences," Vu says in a statement. "The depth of the mythology provides a foundation for sustained, multi-platform franchise growth."
"Thomas has consistently demonstrated the ability to scale narrative worlds into global entertainment franchises," iwot studios CEO Rick Selvage adds. "His background at the intersection of storytelling, technology, and franchise architecture makes him uniquely suited to help expand 'The Wheel of Time' in new immersive formats. We look forward to working closely with Thomas and Anthony as we bring the next chapter of 'The Wheel of Time' to audiences around the world."
No timeframe for the new Wheel of Time animated projects or video game has been announced. While we wait, check out our picks for the best fantasy movies of all time.
