Netflix has dropped a new teaser for the upcoming anime Devil May Cry season 2, and it looks like the anime show may pull on our heartstrings this time around.
The trailer, which you can see below, opens with a flashback to Dante and Virgil's childhood and shows the two brothers play-fighting with each other in a lush garden. In the background, we can hear their mother say, "My sons. Your pain isn't a monster you can fight. Or run from. Accept it as a part of you." The clip then skips to the present day, where Dante is preparing to fight his estranged.
However, the most interesting part of the clip is that we get to see how the brothers were separated in the first place, which is key information for non-game players. After their home is set on fire, Virgil sees his mother run away holding Dante. "That night, if our positions were switched… would our fates be different?" says Virgil. It sounds as though the two have a lot to work through.
This isn't the first we have seen of the upcoming season, as Netflix has already released the first look at Dante and his long-lost sibling, Vergil. The streamer also released the first trailer for Devil May Cry season 2 back in August 2025, which saw Dante meet his not-so-dead brother.
Based on the hit Capcom video game of the same name, Devil May Cry season 1 hit Netflix in April 2025, following a professional demon hunter named Dante who faces sinister forces in the name of vengeance for the death of his family.
The first season was a huge success, accumulating over 5 million views over its first three days on the site, and was renewed for a second season just a week after its premiere. Critics seemed to approve too, as Devil May Cry was met with rave reviews and landed a near perfect 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Devil May Cry season 2 will land on the streamer just over one year later, but this time, Dante has more than just demons to face. The Anime show's sophomore season will see the orphaned demon-hunter-for-hire battle his estranged twin brother, Vergil, all the while the everlasting fight between the human and demon realms continues on.
