Known anime nerd and newly minted Oscar winner Michael B. Jordan says his favorite movie of all time is Princess Mononoke.
In a post-ceremony street interview, Jordan told popular TikToker Maurice aka The People Gallery that his favorite movie was the 1997 Studio Ghibli classic... point blank period. The period fantasy-drama, directed by Hayao Miyazaki, follows a young prince named Ashitaka who travels west in search of a cure after fighting a demon and incurring a nasty curse on his arm as a result. He finds himself in the middle of a conflict between Lady Eboshi, the town's dictator of sorts, and San, a young girl who was raised by wolves.
Jordan's love for anime is pretty well-known, to the point where anime fans around the world have been publicly celebrating his Oscar win. During the press cycle for Creed 2, Jordan told GQ that his favorite anime show is Naruto Shippuden, which made it all the less surprising when he later said that the fight choreography in Creed 3 was anime-inspired.
Jordan won Best Actor at the 2026, the first of his career and one of four wins for Ryan Coogler's Sinners, for playing the dual roles of twin brothers Smoke and Stack in the vampire horror movie. He beat out fellow nominees Timothée Chalamet for Marty Supreme, Leonardo DiCaprio for One Battle After Another, Ethan Hawke for Blue Moon, and Wagner Moura for The Secret Agent.
