A new Mortal Kombat 2 trailer has arrived to mark tickets for the video game adaptation movie officially going on sale. It's chock-full of just about everything a Mortal Kombat fan could want, from side-scrolling levels taken straight from the game, to ninja fights, fatalities, and even a cameo from MK co-creator Ed Boon as a bartender.

As you undoubtedly noticed, Sub-Zero, who died in 2021's Mortal Kombat, has returned as the shadow warrior Noob Saibot, a plot point taken straight from the lore of the games. Noob Saibot originally debuted as a secret character in 1993's legendary Mortal Kombat 2. His name is a combination of the reversed last names of Mortal Kombat creators Ed Boon (Noob) and John Tobias (Saibot).

This time, the fan favorite champions - now joined by Johnny Cage himself - are pitted against one another in the ultimate, no-holds barred, gory battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders."
I gotta be honest, I'm pretty hyped for this movie. I've traditionally been more of a Street Fighter fan, but seeing so much action taken straight from the Mortal Kombat games is definitely hitting the kid in me who still remembers rushing to my friend's house to play the first game on the SNES, and who still remembers the thrill of popping my first quarter into an MKII cabinet and having my mind blown by how much bigger and better it was than the original.
In other words, if there was ever a Mortal Kombat movie aimed directly at my favorite memories of the games, it's looking like it's gonna be Mortal Kombat 2.
Thankfully, we'll only have to wait a month till May 8 for Mortal Kombat 2 to land in theaters, and we can already purchase tickets. For more, stay up to date on all the upcoming video game movies, including MK rival Street Fighter.
