Christopher Nolan's upcoming epic The Odyssey will be shorter than Oppenheimer's 3 hours, producer says

Christopher Nolan will soon return to the big screen with The Odyssey, his adaptation of the classic epic poem.

But, the runtime won't be quite as epic as Nolan's last film, Oppenheimer, which clocked in at exactly 3 hours (or 180 minutes).

That's according to producer Emma Thomas, who revealed to Deadline at a CinemaCon after party that the runtime would be below three hours, though she didn't have the exact figure yet since the movie is still in post-production.

The Odyssey is a huge story that spans 10 years, so expect the film to still be long – just not quite as long as Nolan's Best Picture winner.

"This movie was a nightmare to film… but in all the right ways, and we had an incredible time filming," Nolan said at CinemaCon.

The Odyssey cast is absolutely stacked, with Matt Damon starring as Odysseus, Tom Holland as his son Telemachus, and Anne Hathaway as his wife Penelope. Jon Bernthal is Menelaus, Benny Safdie is Agamemnon, Mia Goth is Melantho, Charlize Theron is Calypso, Zendaya is Athena, Robert Pattinson is Antinous, and Lupita Nyong'o's role hasn't yet been confirmed.

"I can tell you that it is an absolute masterpiece, and I'm taking myself out of that equation," Holland has previously said of the film.

"Chris Nolan's movie is fantastic. It's unlike anything that I've ever seen before. I think when I saw the movie, I found myself asking a question that I haven't asked about a movie for a long time, which is, 'How did you do that?'"
