Xur, Destiny’s weekend trader, canine couture designer, and manufacturer of bespoke, miniature steam carousels, is back. This week he’s over in The Reef. And in crushingly predictable fashion, he’s selling Exotics again. Come on, Xur, mix it up a bit. How about some fine china, or perhaps a little balloon modelling? Anyway, this week he’s selling this stuff:
• Ruin Wings (Exotic Titan Gauntlets) - 13 SC
• Young Ahamkara’s Spine (Exotic Hunter Gauntlets) - 13 SC
• Light Beyond Nemesis (Exotic Warlock Helmet) - 13 SC
• Super Good Advice (Exotic Machine Gun) - 17 Strange Coins
• Legacy Exotic Engram (Gauntlets) - 29 SC
What’s good? Well there’s precisely very little exciting about the armour. The Titans’ Ruin Wings add slight buffs for rocket launcher users - increasing Heavy Ammo drops and the reload speed on the old bang-tubes - but do very little otherwise. A bunch of purple ammo synths would do almost as good a job. Young Ahamkara’s Spine extends the duration of Hunters’ tripmines and adds an extra mine to every charge, making it pretty handy for area control in the Crucible. Its appeal is fairly limited otherwise, though.
And the Warlocks’ Light Beyond Nemesis is a bit duff too, with one, quite specific saving grace. It generates an extra orb on Super activation, and furnishes bonus Super energy in exchange for melee kills, but the actually handy bit is in the way it speeds up revives, both outgoing and incoming. If you regularly play the more grueling co-op activities, it could pretty useful to have one of these on your team.
But seriously, Xur, disappointing. Balloons, I’m telling you, man. Balloons are the future.
Thankfully, Xur is actually selling a gun this week, and it’s a good one too. Super Good Advice is a respectable short-to-medium-range solution, its high rate of fire tempered slightly by noticeable recoil. But the real kicker is in it signature perk. Missing a few shots due to that rattley barrel, or just plain being a bit shit? Don’t worry! There’s a very high chance of any wayward bullet being delivered directly back into the mag. Go on, fire it into the sky, watch your ammo counter, and see what happens. Very little. That’s what’ll happen. Super Good Advice is great fun.
As ever, Xur will be around until 10am UK / 2am PT on Sunday, at which point he’ll whisk himself away for another week.

Former (and long-time) GamesRadar+ writer, Dave has been gaming with immense dedication ever since he failed dismally at some '80s arcade racer on a childhood day at the seaside (due to being too small to reach the controls without help). These days he's an enigmatic blend of beard-stroking narrative discussion and hard-hitting Psycho Crushers.
