Skyfall has revealed a new trailer at a special "IMAX Remix" press event at Comic-Con 2012, giving us the chance to learn a few new details that help shine a light on the film's plot.
The film's official synopsis makes a fairly cryptic allusion to M's involvement in Skyfall 's storyline, claiming that, "Bond’s loyalty to M (Judi Dench) is tested as her past comes back to haunt her." Well, the new footage we saw revealed a little more detail concerning the trouble in which M finds herself.
It turns out that M was responsible for a data drive containing the identities and current locations of every British Intelligence Agent currently operating in the field. Quite a sensitive bit of kit then, and not something you'd want falling into the wrong hands. Except that's exactly what happens…
That would seem to explain the ominous shot of Union Jack clad coffins that cropped up in the first teaser - somebody is taking out MI6's finest, and only Bond can put a stop to it. And as the rest of the new trailer demonstrated, he's ready to do so in explosive style.
The rest of the action on show looked suitably spectacular (particularly on the towering IMAX screen) with an eye-popping collision between a crane and a speeding train a particular highlight. Daniel Craig even gets the opportunity to drop a, "Bond, James Bond" into the mix for good measure!
Directed by Sam Mendes and co-starring Ralph Fiennes, Javier Bardem, Naomie Harris and Ben Whishaw, Skyfall opens in the UK on 26 October 2012.
