THQ says fixing Homefront for Xbox 360 is its "top priority", patches for all platforms coming soon

Help is onthe way fordisgruntled Homefront players. THQ confirmed it has madepatching thepersistent freezing issueson the Xbox 360 number one on its to-do list, and expects to havethe first of twoupdates submitted for Microsoft's approval within the next couple ofdays. The publishersaid similar updates for PS3will bemade available at the same time or shortly thereafter.

“The Homefront team is finishing up our first Critical Title Update that will address the Profile Corruption issue (also known as the ‘freeze’ bug), as this is our highest priority,” reads the latest updateon Homefront's website, further explaining, “We are also including a fix for multiplayer connectivity and ping time issues, where players are being sent to distant server locations at the expense of performance. We expect this update to be submitted to Microsoft really soon and we will be working with them very closely to get this approved and deployed as quickly as possible.”

The Xbox Liveglitch in question has resulted in hard freezes at the THQ and Kaos Studioslogo screens after starting a new game. As the bug appears to have a connection to players' profiles, THQpreviously suggestedowners create a new profile to at leastgain access tothe single-player campaign. Understandably, this has done little toappease the Homefront community.

THQ alsostated its attack plan for addressing the similar issues on the PS3, pledging to release an update forSony playersas soon as it is ready. Details ofthe fixes forboth platforms are posted as follows:

Update 1: Xbox 360 Critical Title Update
Scheduled for Microsoft Submission in the next day or two.
Fixing the Xbox Live Profile Corruption ‘Freeze’ Issue
Fix for players being matched in distant server locations

Update 2: Additional Game Issues Fixes
Playstation 3 Update will release as soon as fixes are ready.
Xbox 360 will submit as soon as Update 1 is released live.

Multiplayer Freezing (affecting X360 & PS3)
Experience and Statistics Resets (affecting X360 & PS3)
Improving Party Matchmaking & Joining with Friends (affecting X360 & PS3)
Fixing the Beacon Error (affecting X360 only)
Correcting inconsistent Leaderboards data (affecting X360 & PS3)

It's arguable Kaos Studios' decisionnot to conduct a public betafor thePS3 and Xbox 360 has come back to bit them in the ass. That said, even the most thorough Q&A testing can't fully replicate how a game will perform once 700,000+ online rebels get their mitts on it. Are you willing to forgive a new IP for a few (significant) launch hiccups, or are you ready to move on?
