My Big Fat Greek Wedding sequel gets its first trailer

When you consider that My Big Fat Greek Wedding is still the highest-grossing romantic comedy of all time (yes, really!), it's mildly surprising that the inevitable sequel has taken over a decade to come to fruition. Star and screenwriter, Nia Vardalos announced that she was penning the follow-up last year, and now the first trailer for My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 has dropped online.

Watch the trailer below...

While the original film told the story of Toula Portokalos (Vardalos) and Ian (John Corbett), the sequel takes place many years after their wedding and focuses on the couple's teenage daughter Paris (Elena Kampouris), who is determined to attend an out-of-state college to escape her smothering family.

In addition to the return of Vardalos and Corbett, Andrea Martin, Rita Wilson, Ian Gomez, Gia Carides, Louis Mandylor, and Joey Fatone will also reprise their roles from the original. That will be great news for fans, and with the trailer hinting at plenty of funny moments, this belated follow-up may yet make for an entertaining film.

Directed by Kirk Jones, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 is released in UK and US cinemas on March 25 2016.
