Killzone Mercenary multiplayer beta sign-ups now open

Sony is now taking registrations for a Killzone: Mercenary closed multiplayer beta. The company says those interested have until 2pm PDT on Wednesday, July 17 to sign up for the public’s first look at the Vita first-person shooter’s online package. Sony says the game’s multiplayer component will feature plenty of scope for customisation, enabling players to gear up for battle like a tank or opt for a more stealthy approach towards assassinations.

Developed by Guerrilla Games Cambridge, the title sees players step into the boots of the new Mercenary faction, taking on paid contracts from both the warring ISA and Helghast forces. More details can be found in our first Killzone: Mercenary preview.

Sony has announced a Killzone: Mercenary release date of September 17, 2013 in North America and September 18 in Europe. Customers who pre-order the game will receive access to Blackjack's Briefcase, which features a 48-hour double XP boost and an in-game cash bonus allowing them to purchase new weapons before entering the battlefield for the first time.
