Joss Whedons Much Ado About Nothing gets a trailer: watch now

Joss Whedon’s Much Ado About Nothing wowed audiences at the 2012 Toronto Film Festival (and then again at the 2013 Glasgow Film Festival), and now you can watch the first trailer.

A slick black-and-white reimagining of Shakespeare’s tragic-comic romance, the film casts Whedon acolytes from Buffy , Firefly , Dollhouse and more and updates the action to the modern day.

Amy Acker and Alexis Denisof star as the sparring would-be lovers Beatrice and Benedick, with Fran Kranz and Jillian Morgese as Claudio and Hero. It's the latter couple's troubled engagement that forms the basis of the plot, as the former is tricked into revealing their true feelings.

Shot at Whedon’s California home in just 12 days (after wrapping shooting on The Avengers ), Much Ado has a palpable sense of fun and experimentation, and should be able to convert Shakespeare-doubters to the cause.

Much Ado About Nothing opens in the UK on 14 June 2013.
