Game of Thrones season 8 could be longer than we first thought

You may have heard of a tiny show by the name of Game of Thrones ending after season 8 in 2018, and yet we still don’t know just how many episodes are left in the (presumably) shorter final season. If one of HBO’s head honchos has his way, we could be looking at a full 10-episode run – but it’s all on the shoulders of showrunners David Benioff and D.B Weiss.

Davos may have previously committed a big no-no by revealing Game of Thrones season 7 will be followed by a six-episode final season but it seems that’s not quite the case, as HBO’s programming president Casey Bloys told EW, “[Benioff and Weiss] are still figuring out the shape of the season, what they want to do… I’ll take as many as they want to do. If they give me eight, I’ll want 10.”

Six episodes? Eight? 10? The more Game of Thrones the better, even if its future is kept under wraps for now.

Game of Thrones season 7, meanwhile, will air on HBO this summer.
