The return of Game Of Thrones has proven a hit for both HBO in the States – where it broke ratings records – and for Sky Atlantic in the UK.
In the States, the season two premiere drew in 3.9 million viewers, its largest ever audience and a 53% increase over the show’s season one average. With encore (aka, repeat) viewings added in the total viewers for Sunday was 6.3 million viewers.
Here in the UK the episode – which aired last night (Monday) – was watched by 522,000 viewers. That’s fewer than last year’s series premiere (743,000) but more than the average figure for the whole of season one (365,000).
