Far Cry 3 gets release date and new trailer

Ubisoft's spent the better part of a year teasing the apparent inevitability of a new Far Cry game, and we'd all but written the game off as something to look forward to in 2013. However, after the leak of a German trailer marked with a 2012 release date, Ubi's figured screw it, of course there'll be a new Far Cry this year and it'll be released around the same time as Assassin's Creed III (which we also predicted). If you're picking up more of an OG Far Cry vibe from this clip, you're not alone. Ubisoft's said in the latest issue of Edge that the title will contain less of Far Cry 2's political machinations, focusing more on the psychological journey of a sole protagonist stuck on an island with a bunch of sanity-testing bad men. That is to say, it's the same sort of deal as the original game, but this time with what looks to be far more sophisticated presentation and gameplay. Expect to see and hear plenty more before September.
