Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man adaptation has been moved forward in Marvel’s 2015 scheduling, with the film now set to arrive in US screens on 31 July 2015.
The film had initially been slated for a 6 November 2015 release date, only for Marvel to move the project into prime summer blockbuster territory.
Ant-Man now looks set to go head-to-head with Batman Vs. Superman , which will open two weeks earlier on 17 July, and is currently set to be the biggest release of that month.
It’s a pretty punchy move from Marvel, although given that the original release date would have put the film up against Bond 24 , perhaps it’s not as much of a gamble as it might appear.
With the release date now confirmed, hopefully it won’t be long before we hear about some casting news. If Ant-Man is going to be taking on Batman and Superman, it would help if we could put a face to the name…
