360 - Dead Space - EA: Dead Space wouldn't have happened a few years ago An EA game like Dead Space simply "wouldn't have happened" prior to the company's change of strategy two years ago, gameplay engineer David Yee has told VideoGamer.com. Following his appointment in 2007, CEO John Riccitiello has encouraged a focus on original intellectual properties - a move which has proved popular among the design staff, according to Yee.

"It was easy from our standpoint on the ground to be like, "Well, we're not really too sure. This new guy just came back in" [to the company]. But we've really seen that, over the course of Dead Space. A few years ago Dead Space would have been... there's no chance it would have happened. And we're seeing lots of other opportunities where people are able to explore doing new and original IP, which is really exciting."

360 - Dead Space - Dead Space may be light on Ellis' work Joystiq writes- Even though it may be true that, as he said, Warren Ellis "wrote a bunch of the groundwork, backstory and structure on the forthcoming EA videogame Dead Space," it would appear that you may not find a whole lot of that work in the final product.

Speaking with IGN, executive producer Glen Schofield said, "With all due respect to Warren ... Warren came at the very beginning of the game; we figured we needed a writer and Warren came in and we had our direction, our ideas ... how many of these ideas are leftovers from what he wrote, I don't know – I'd have to go back a reread all his work." We'll probably never know how much of he game was inspired by the prolific writer, but it doesn't exactly sound like Warren Ellis' Dead Space, does it?

360 - Dead Space - Gamepro: EA's Dead Space moves up release date to October 24 Gamepro: Electronic Arts today announced that upcoming space-borne survival horror title Dead Space will be coming to store shelves earlier than advertised.

The previous release date, October 31, coincided with spooky holiday Halloween in the States. Perhaps it was too scary a coincidence however, as the new date is more than a week earlier, on October 21. The UK release will be October 24, and the PC version is still set to arrive on October 31.

"The decision to bring it to fans earlier was due to completing the game early," read a release from EA's UK offices.

360 - Dead Space - Dead Space Hero Unmasked OXM reports that Dead Space protagonist Isaac Clarke could actually be a monster himself.

EA has kept quiet on whether Clarke removes his helmet at any point during Dead Space but the game's Twinkle Twinkle Little Star trailer could explain why - it shows a monster, similar to the ones Isaac fights, wearing exactly the same outfit.

Is this the true story of Dead Space that EA is trying to keep quiet?

360 - Dead Space - No Known Survivors on new Dead Space website Some video game websites really are fascinating. We've been having a blast with the Resistance 2 ARGs, and now we're keeping an eye on this new Dead Space website. No Known Survivors isn't an ARG, though -- you won't be visiting the websites of fake corporations, nor will you be getting mysterious voicemails from Katee Sackhoff. Instead, No Known Survivors is an episodic, interactive 3D experience that takes you on board the USG Ishimura, to explore the events that happen before the upcoming horror game. If you know anything about the game, we're pretty certain that these weekly episodes won't end with bunnies or rainbows. In fact, we're pretty sure there will be ... well, no survivors.
