This morning, the news broke that EA filed a trademark for the name "Visceral Games". While it's possible this is a new studio, it seems more likely that this is the new name for the development studio responsible for Dead Space.
EA's Patrick Söderlund on Mirror's Edge: "Is it perfect? No. Are there things in there that we will address for future versions? Absolutely. Was it a good first attempt? Yes! That's kind of how I summarize it."
In an interview with Gamasutra, EA Games Europe senior VP Patrick Söderlund believes the lifetime performance of Mirror's Edge and Dead Space will prove them to be hits after all, talking to Gamasutra about why "it's hard to break ground with new IP."
Taking place on Thursday April 23rd at The Brewery, Chiswell Street, London, this year's MCV Industry Excellence Awards will be the most hotly-contested ever, with 17 accolades up for grabs, across a diverse range of categories covering the entire industry.

During a conference call today, EA CFO Eric Brown noted that both EA Redwood Shores' Dead Space and DICE's Mirror's Edge sold over one million copies each in 2008.
Electronic Arts is the focus of attention for both analysts and gamers as 2008 is closing. The publisher, which is already facing stiff competition from Activision Blizzard and Ubisoft, has seen worse than expected results in the last month, deciding to lay off more than 1,000 people, about 10% of its workforce, while also closing down or consolidating a lot of studios, including Need for Speed: Undercover developer Black Box. New intellectual properties like Dead Space, a space based horror shooter, and Mirror's Edge, the free running DICE developed title, have failed to make the impact that the company had hoped for.

EA have announced that a free downloadable demo for Dead Space will be launched on November 25. The demo will showcase the combat and strategic dismemberment of the epic sci-fi action game.The demo will be available on PSN and Xbox Live worldwide. In Europe, the demo will be available for PSN on November 27.
