The Amazing Spider-Man will feature a playable Stan Lee

Spider-Man co-creator Stan Lee has made cameos in the webcrawler's movies, cartoons, and graphic novels for years, so this week's news that the comic book veteran will make his first video game appearance as a playable character in The Amazing Spider-Man isn't so much of a surprise as it is long overdue.

Stan Lee revealed his top secret role during an interview with Addict of Fiction at the London Super Comic Convention. Although, it doesn't look like it took too much digging:

Technically, Stan Lee has appeared in video games before – most notably as the narrator for past Spider-Man games, and as Senator Stanley in “Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2”. By the sounds of it, The Amazing Spider-Man will mark the former Marvel president's first full-on appearance, image and all. Lee didn't say how he would factor into Beenox's movie tie-in, but the smart money is on him being included as an unlockable costume.

The Amazing Spider-Man releases June 26 for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, DS, and 3DS. Watch the latest “Rhino reveal” trailer here.

This should be...interesting. Having him as an unlockable skin is likely, although it also seems likely that maybe something will happen to Spidey during the game and you'll take control of Stan Lee to help him out or whatever. I dunno.

That's what I thought at first. I'd quite like to see something similar to the Green Goblin suit in the first Movie-game, that had it's own set of moves and controls. Even if all Stan's moves were just ripped directly from other Marvel characters.

buying it. I know it's made by Beenox and therefore has a very very good chance of being terrible, I'm getting it. but he BETTER talk. I don't want a BS re-skin. I want a full-on playable Stan Lee. when I want to punch a guy, I want to hear a mighty "EXCELSIOR!" whenever someone on the street notices me, I want them acknowledged as "True Believers" this could be the best thing ever, so long as they don't half-ass it.
