Radio On review

Shot in melancholic monochrome, this lugubrious 1980 British road movie concerns Robert (David Beames), who travels to Bristol to uncover more about the death of his brother and encounters various lost souls en route. Dialogue between the disenchanted, alienated characters is minimal, but music is everywhere (the soundtrack includes Kraftwerk and David Bowie) as writer/director Chris Petit - - a former Time Out reviewer - - conjures up a bleak, prescient vision of modern life's "electronic reality".
