Here's how Pokemon Go lets you choose how to evolve your Eevee

TODO alt text

It looks like Pokemon Go is hiding more than a few secrets that only fans of the franchise are starting to uncover now. The ridiculously cute Eevee has not one but three evolutions available but how can you choose between Jolteon, Flareon or Vaporeon when you hit that evolve button? As discovered by smithnigel on Reddit, you'll need to use your knowledge of the original TV show.

The Eevee Brothers from the anime each had their own Eevee evolution. Rainer, Pyro and Sparky each owned a Vaporeon, a Flareon and a Jolteon so rename your Eevee after the respective brother by using the edit tool, and when you hit evolve you'll get your perfect eeevolution. I tried it this morning and it worked perfectly, here's the steps I took - remember to quit out of the app and restart just to make sure that the name registers on the servers. I only had one Eevee as I'd turned the others in for Candy so I haven't tried evolving multiple ones as yet. Here's the names as a reminder.

Rainer  = Vaporeon
Sparky = Jolteon
Pyro = Flareon

So bring up the Eevee you want to evolve. Here's mine. D'awww.

Edit the name respectively. I wanted a Vaporeon so changed the name to Rainer. Remember to hit ok and then completely restart the app to make sure the name registers on the servers.

Reopen the app and go back into your Pokemon menu. If you've got enough Eevee candy, you should be able to hit evolve. See my new high level Vaporeon below. It's taken quite the hop in CP too. Bring me those gyms....

If you're just starting out, here's the Pokemon Go tips I wish I'd known when I started playing
