E3 2011: Battlefield 3 for PS3 shipping with free copy of Battlefield 1943

PlayStation 3 owners will receive a little something extra with their copies of Battlefield 3 this fall. Sony has revealed all copies of DICE's war-time shooter for the PS3 will ship with a bonus copy of Battlefield 1943, EA's online multiplayer spin-off of the popular franchise.

”EA is using the extra storage capacity of Blu-Ray to add a second game, Battlefield 1943 to the disc. That extra and exclusive content is a critical differentiator for PlayStation,” said SCEA CEO Jack Tretton, during Sony's E3 presser.

Trettor added this free offering will make the PS3 version of Battlefield 3 “bigger and better” than anything the competition has to offer. Considering no exclusive perks have yet been revealed for the Xbox 360 or PC, that looks to be the case. For now, at least.

Battlefield 3 deploys for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on October 25th.

@Robx you should be fine if you can run BC2 with full settings. i'm personally gonna upgrade my PC to get the best out of this game. gonna be so worth it, cos i know i'll be playing it for years.

Didn't that game come with every Ultimate Edition copy of BF: BC2?
  • GrandHarrier - June 7, 2011 10:44 p.m.

They keep adding content to the PS3 versions and the 360 continues to outsell it.

if you already have it can you play the one on the disc with your same rank? that would be a nice touch. I also hope there are no trophies for it because the I'll have to earn them again.

The free incentive games of the sony show were a great touch. Matching that Microsoft?

They could barely fit the game in 2 disk.
  • D0CCON - June 7, 2011 9:02 p.m.

I already have it, so I'll defiantly be sticking with my 360 preorder

@db1331 Im actually considering the console version as the requirements are intimidating... probably will get it for both in the end...
  • db1331 - June 7, 2011 8:52 p.m.

"Trettor added this free offering will make the PS3 version of Battlefield 3 “bigger and better” than anything the competition has to offer" What about the PC version, which will be the only version to look as good as all the footage shown so far, and will allow for more players in multiplayer matches on bigger maps?
  • rafael-vazquez - September 9, 2011 9:24 p.m.

Some people that have played BF3 in PS3 say that it still looks good, and their is footage of PS3 version.
