Dragon Ball live action movie on the way

We reported on this in the anime special , but details were sparse at the time. Now more announcements have been made regarding the live action adaptation of Dragon Ball, the long-running anime and manga series. Writing and directing duties are apparently being supplied by James "The X-Files" Wong, and shooting is due to begin in Canada this November.

This wouldn't be the first live action version of Dragon Ball, though - Chinese directors Joe Chan and Leung Chung produced their own live action version of Akira Toriyama's famous manga in 1989. It was dubbed into English and released as Dragon Ball: The Magic Begins. If you've never heard of it, there's a very good reason for that . Hopefully James Wong's version will be a bit better.
