Download of the Week - Dead Rising 2: Case Zero's price slashed to 200MS

Platform: 360 | Publisher: Capcom | Developer: Blue Castle | Price: 200MS | Size: 824.75MB

We were going to laud some quality PS3 titles here this week, but ummm, errr, something happened to the PlayStation Network. Not quite sure what as we can't find any news about it anywhere. Anyways, the selection would've had to be pretty strong to go up against Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, which has been slashed to half price on Xbox Marketplace this week.

Even though the brilliant Dead Rising 2 has been out for a bit, this taster of Chuck Greene's journey to Fortune City - the location of DR2 is both a perfect appetiser to the big action and also a great filler for those looking for more zombie skulls to crack after completing the main game.

Want more DLC? Check these out...

Garry's Mod | Steam | £5.99/$9:99
Probably the most versatile playground around, Garry’s Mod’s open-ended, physics-driven toy box let's you build, blow up and mess with anything imaginable. You need a Source-powered game to use it, but the possibilities are endless.

GTA: Vice City | Steam | £5:99/$9:99
We rubbed our eyes in disbelief when we saw how cheap this Rockstar classic was. It's no oil painting now but with a modding scene creating stuff from Back To The Future locales and dinosaurs from Jurassic Park it's still worth a look.

Ok, now where do I find this for 200 MSP?
  • HankVenture - April 29, 2011 12:41 p.m.

Is it worth buying for someone whose never played a Dead Rising before but wants to have a small taste for cheap? or is it a waterdown boring version of the main games
  • ibeberger - April 29, 2011 12:49 p.m.

@HankVenture - that's exactly what it is, a small taste for cheap. It certainly doesn't have the depth of the full game but if you're on the fence it' the most cost effective way to try it out. Plus it sets up the story for DR2 so if you do like it you'll be right where you need to in order to pick up the full game.

Bleh .. browsing the marketplace on is brutal. Here is a link: Also, looks like Case West is 50% off too:

To anyone considering buying Vice City on steam: it doesnt translate well to the PC and it doesnt work well on new hardware. The KB/M controls are pretty bad and setting up a gamepad is complicated. I bought a GTA pack a while ago for $10 or so (GTAIII, Vice City, San Andreas) and it was pretty much unplayable for me. Just a heads up. I dont think its worth $10.

Yeah, I wouldn't bother with GTA: Vice City on PC. The Joypad is impossible to set up correctly as far as the look around controls go. Maybe it's okay if you're a mouse/keyboard person but I couldn't be arsed when I couldn't use a joypad. I wish Rockstar would HD these up already.

Are the Steam deals you pulled from Steam UK? I ask because, US Steam's weekend deal is Mount & Blade/Mount & Blade: Warband games for 80% off. Or Mount & Blade Complete for 60% off. Just mentioning it, because the prices you listed for Gary's Mod and Vice City are the normal, non-discounted prices. Very strange that you would choose to highlight those over something that's 80% off...

I really contemplated picking up Case Zero but Dead Rising really scared me and I really, believe it or not, don't have the fascination of killing zombies. I know I know right. For those thinking about Vice City, grab the Trilogy on ebay if you can find it, that's what I did/perfect collection to have in your game collection.

You need a gold membership to get these half price on 360. I'm disappointed. I would have bought these to tide me over until PSN was back up. Guess I'll stick to finishing off older PS2 and PS3 games.
  • philipshaw - April 30, 2011 12:59 p.m.

Might get it at that price

Case West is 400 fun bucks now too. Dunno if it was when the article went up. EDIT: TAALUUUUSSSSS! Case Zero is worth every pen- erm... point(?) if you are looking for a taste of dead rising gameplay but don't want to pick up a box copy and can't rent. If you are looking for something completely risk free, you can DL the demo for Case Zero at no cost!

Im freaking pissed. I literally bought it mere hours before the price drop and MS refuses to refund the difference
