Electronic Arts has announced plans to launch the demo for Dead Space 2 on December 21 via Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network. “The holidays are a great time to enjoy all forms of entertainment, and we can’t wait to give horror and action adventure gamers a taste of what awaits them in Dead Space 2,” said executive producer Steve Papoutis.
“Releasing the demo five weeks before launch will not only re-connect players with our hero Isaac Clarke, but will also give them the opportunity to experience firsthand various jaw-dropping scenarios. It’s gonna be awesome.”

According to the announcement, players will have access to a variety of new tools, including: the new Javelin gun, an updated stasis recharge mechanic, and an enhanced telekinesis ability. In addition, you’ll get to test drive Isaac’s new jet suit, which will give you ‘full 3600 control in Zero-G space.’
No mention was made of multiplayer in the demo, but you can read our hands-on impressions of our Engineer vs Necromorph battles here. Dead Space 2 is scheduled to release on January 25, 2011 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
