Having wrapped filming on crime drama We Own The Night alongside Joaquin Phoenix, Mark Wahlberg has shifted his sights to The Shooter.
Under the guidance of Training Day and King Arthur helmer, Antoine Fuqua, the flick is based on the cult action book, Point Of Impact, by Stephen Hunter.
The tale sees Wahlberg as Bob Lee Swagger, a retired army marksman who has tucked himself away in the forests of Arkansas. Swagger is wracked with guilt after taking out an innocent but is pulled back into action to protect a president. When the operation goes south, Swagger is set up and forced on the run in an attempt to clear his name.
We have an itchy feeling here at TF that his might prove to be Wahlberg’s Bourne-esque role, with Hunter having scribbled a further two novels featuring the dead-eye marksman.
