WWE '12 roster of more than 60 wrestlers revealed at pre-Summerslam event

Yesterday at Summerslam Fan Axxess, the WWE community-involving event that hypes the upcoming pay-per-view event, publisher THQ unveiled the nearly complete line-up of wrestlers for the reboot to its long-running wrestling franchise. WWE announcer Todd Grisham was joined on stage by the awesome former champion The Miz and hall of famer/Andy Kaufman colleague Jerry Lawler, and the trio ran down the list of superstars in WWE '12. Though the group unsurprisingly includes most of the wrestlers currently appearing on TV, we were pleasantly surprised how deep into WWE’s past the developers went.

Above: Sadly this did not happen live yesterday

Obviously all the biggies were there: cover star Randy Orton, John Cena, CM Punk (aka Best in the World), Divas like Kelly Kelly and Beth Phoenix, as well as midcarders like Yoshi Tatsu, Sin Cara, and Michael McGillicutty. McGillicutty’s appearance lead to one of the more interesting moments of the day, as Randy Orton later made an appearance to hype the game and broke character somewhat to publically complain that McGillicutty, son of the late Mr. Perfect/Curt Hennig, should be allowed to wrestle under his true name Joe Hennig.

After the audience implored Orton to RKO Miz (which, sadly, didn’t happen) the group went on to show the strong collection of classic wrestlers making an appearance in WWE '12. Perhaps in response to the success of WWE All-Stars, WWE '12 has such recent legends Stone Cold Steve Austin and Eddie Guerrero joined by WCW throwbacks like Arn Anderson and the Road Warriors, plus odd but welcome additions Demolition and Vader. Now we can finally have the Road Warriors/Demolition dream match we’ve been waiting over 20 years to see.

The group on stage mentioned that one member of the roster had yet to be revealed (we’d put our money on Macho Man Randy Savageor Shawn Michaels) and co-host Jerry Lawler revealed that he’d be one of the first of the DLC wrestlers for the title. With the WWE '12 site showing 13 more DLC wrestlers to be revealed (and don’t forget The Rock as a pre-order bonus) the list isn’t finished just yet, but below you’ll find nearly everyone you’ll be playing as come November 22. We’ll have a more detailed look at the game very soon, but in the meantime you can plan out your perfect Royal Rumble with the list below:
