The next Fortnite live event is up and running right now, though this time it's an ongoing in-game event rather than one of the huge showcases we've previously seen to wrap up a season or chapter. After a series of earthquakes rocked the island and cracked the landscape, we now have a giant Titan Hand emerging from a chasm southwest of Ruined Reels that has delivered Pandora's Box, threatening to unleash chaos in the battle royale. For the latest on what's happening, here's a summary of the current live event in Fortnite.
What time is the Fortnite live event
The current Fortnite live event began on Tuesday February 27 at 11am PST / 2pm EST / 7pm GMT with earthquakes shaking the island, with those tremors forming a large caldera just to the southwest of Ruined Reels. Regular quakes followed that on an hourly basis, with the crack in the ground gradually getting larger until a Titan Hand burst out of it on Saturday March 2 at 11am PST / 2pm EST / 7pm GMT. This giant hand had Pandora's Box chained to it, and players needed to deal around 5 trillion (!) damage to it in order to break the cursed chest free – which they managed to do within 24 hours.
This unleashed a swirling vortex from Pandora's Box to signify the next stage of the Fortnite live event, and if you approach it then you can see souls emerging accompanied by moans and screams. From leaked files it was originally expected that this would be followed by tornadoes returning across the island, though it now seems like it was just the tornado code being repurposed to create the glowing vortex from Pandora's Box.
All of this is leading up to the launch of Fortnite Season 2 in Chapter 5, which is now all but confirmed to have a Greek Mythology theme, so it will be interesting to see how all of this plays out in the run up to that.
