Thor's Jaimie Alexander says Marvel is just better than DC (gasp!)

Before Gal Gadot landed the role of Wonder Woman, Thor actress Jaimie Alexander was in the running to play the Amazonian warrior. Being a good sport about it all she tells Variety that she's "excited" to see what Gadot will do with the iconic role. She even explains how difficult bridging the gap between DC and Marvel properties would have been:

"I was one of a few people that were an obvious choice for Wonder Woman, but it was never going to happen", she says. "I’m contracted with Marvel and it would (be) strange. Sif, in her way, is Marvel’s Wonder Woman. They’re both ethereal and have armour and a sword, and have special abilities; the physicality of the role is very similar".

Aw, that's a way to put a silver lining on it! Why play a character that's basically the same as the one you're already playing? Thing is, even if the possibility of a different DC role arose in the future, her follow-up comparison about the two comic giants doesn't exactly do her any favors. "The thing I really enjoy about Marvel is that they start with a character first and all the explosions and costumes, the glitz and glam, are secondary to who the actual character is deep down. That’s something I haven’t really been able to find with DC Comics. I know that’s a bold statement, but it’s been my experience."

It's a very bold statement, that we can only assume is steeped in her loyalty to Marvel, which she insists isn't the case. "I’m a huge comic book fan," she continues, "and I’ve read a lot from all different comic book outlets. I enjoy Marvel, and I’m not just saying that because I’m in the Thor films. I gravitate towards the Marvel characters."
