Limbo hits Vita next week

The Vita version of award-winning puzzle-platformer Limbo will launch next week, Playdead CEO and co-founder Dino Patti has confirmed. The game will go live on PSN for Sony's portable system on Tuesday, June 5 in the US, priced at $14.99. It'll release the following day in Europe, where it will cost €12.99/£9.99.

Patti said in a post on the PS Blog: "As we approach the third anniversary of Limbo, the game is finally ready for handheld devices. Together, with the talented people at [LittleBigPlanet Vita co-developer] Double Eleven, we at Playdead have been working hard to adapt Limbo to PS Vita without compromising the experience." Patti said in March that the game won't support touchscreen controls as the studio wanted to give mobile players “exactly the same experience” as console ones.

Limbo puts players in the role of a young boy travelling through a hostile 2D black and white world, where he must overcome a series of physics-based puzzles and obstacles in an attempt to discover the fate of his sister. The game first released on Xbox 360 in July 2010, before making its way to PS3, PC and Mac the following year. In our original Limbo review, we called the title “a genuine masterpiece you NEED to experience”. Last year, we even suggested it’s one of the greatest games ever made.

Earlier this week, the official selection list for this year’s E3 IndieCade showcase revealed that Sony plans to release another indie darling, thatgamecompany’s Flower, on Vita.
