Halo Wars 2 Blitzes the PC Gamer Weekender

Halo Wars 2 is coming to the PC Gamer Weekender, and you’ll be able to get hands on with its brand new Blitz mode throughout the event.

Blitz mode gets a bit of everyone’s favourite card-battler Hearthstone all over your RTS, flipping the core dynamic of the strategy genre on its head – no longer just about base-building and the like, Blitz mode boils encounters down to… well, blitzes.

No match lasts longer than 12 minutes, and players are tasked with some very fast RTS decisions (VFRTS?), deploying units from a deck of cards they go into battle holding. You need to understand your units more than ever if you’re sending them in card by card, and it adds a whole new dimension to the RTS genre.

But why this mode? Well, we asked Microsoft: “Blitz mode is an entirely new way to experience Halo Wars and real-time strategy gameplay.

“Combining tactical combat with card-based strategy, your deck is your army in Blitz as you build collections of powerful vehicles and troops and command those units in fast-action matches online or solo against waves of enemies. A departure from more traditional RTS games, it’s simple to pick up and play, easy to learn but hard to master.”

And that’s not all! Roderick Jago of the Creative Assembly will be on hand on both Saturday and Sunday to talk about Halo Wars 2 and its brand new mode on the PC Gamer Stage. So you can play and learn!

You’ll be able to get hands-on with Halo Wars 2 throughout the PC Gamer Weekender, which is being held February 18-19 at the Olympia, London, in the UK. For more details see the site, and follow the PCGW on Twitter for up-to-the-minute news.
