GUEST BLOG London Cosrave And Anime Quiz Night

It's coming this Saturday and Rebecca Moriarty explains why Londoners should attend...

This is a guest blog by Rebecca Moriarty, founder of League of Extraordinary Cosplayers and Head of Press for AnimeLeague . And this is a video from last year's event in Leicester:

This Saturday, 12 April, AnimeLeague will be holding its first London Cosrave and pub quiz in conjunction with popular cosplay blog League of Extraordinary Cosplayers at The Arsenal Tavern, from 7pm.

For many, it's actually the parties and evening entertainment which are the highlight of attending an anime convention, rather than the guest line-up and exhibitors. Parties at convention allow a rare chance to have a few drinks with friends you don't often see, wear whatever you want, and listen to the style of music that you like!

AnimeLegaue, hosts of London Anime Gaming Con and Alcon in Leicester, noticed the popularity and enthusiasm for evening entertainment and decided to host a special cosplay club night. Trialling in Leicester last year, the evenings were called "cosraves." The cosrave is a great teaser for future conventions and at a fraction of the price (just £3 if pre-booked). These nights are great for catching up with old friends and making some new ones. Following the cosrave's success (and fans' suggestions on the forums), AnimeLeague are holding the first Cosrave in London this Saturday!

And the League of Extraordinary Cosplayers blog , covering all things cosplay and conventions, is celebrating its first birthday this month! To celebrate its holding an anime and j-culture themed pub quiz with a jackpot of £50 for the winners – so get there nice and early for 7pm to take part.

After the quiz, DJ Baka Punk, DJ Bluestreak and DJ Heretic will hit the decks and play popular j-rock/pop, anime themes and club classics for you to enjoy.

Although cosplay is optional it is strongly encouraged, with a cosplay contest at 11pm, the winner will win tickets to London Anime Gaming Con in the summer.

A big thanks to those who have supported both League of Extraordinary Cosplayers and AnimeLeague. Tickets for Saturday's event are £3 online or £6 on the door. Find out more on Facebook and the AnimeLeague site .
