Hideo Kojima and film director Guillermo del Toro were collaborating on P.T. and Silent Hills until Konami canceled the project, and del Toro was disappointed. That much we knew. But del Toro took Kojima's celebration at The Game Awards last night to truly cut loose on Kojima's former employer for pulling the plug.
Konami cancelling SH after PT is one of the most moronic things I've ever witnessed.December 2, 2016
It's impossible to separate the phenomenon that P.T. became from the way Konami handled it. The looping horror experience is still inspiring players and creators, but a lot of its popularity came from the very fact that Konami tried to quietly shut it down and pull it off the PlayStation Store after the company fell out with Kojima.
Del Toro has plenty of reason to be upset either way, even if the imbroglio did eventually lead to him starring as a pod baby savior in Death Stranding, Kojima Productions' first independent project. Or if you want that boiled down into del Toro's fundamental argument...
