Edgar Ramirez to play Ares in Wrath of the Titans

Edgar Ramirez is in negotiations to play Ares, the god of war, in the upcoming mythological sequel Wrath of the Titans , according to The Wrap.

Ramirez has been seen in the likes of The Bourne Ultimatum , Domino , and Vantage Point , and he grabbed great notices for his role as Carlos the Jackal in the recent movie/miniseries.

It's not yet known if Ramirez' Ares will be an enemy or an assistant to Sam Worthington's Perseus, but expect the square-jawed Venezuelan to have an action-heavy role.

The Wrap are also reporting that Toby Kebbell is on the verge of signing on to play Agenor in the sequel. Kebbell impressed greatly in Dead Man's Shoes , and has since appeared in RocknRolla , Prince of Persia and The Sorcerer's Apprentice .

There's also rumours suggesting that Clemence Poesy has made it onto the shortlist to play Princess Andromeda in the movie, with Hayley Atwell, Janet Montgomery, Dominique McElligott and Georgina Haig also under consideration.

Perhaps most tantalising of all is the news that Bill Nighy is being sought to play Hephaestus, son of Zeus and god of technology, metals and more, but that's strictly rumour at this point.

Sam Worthington, Gemma Arterton, Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson are all set to return for the Clash sequel, which will be directed by Jonathan Liebesman ( Battle: Los Angeles ).
