The Division Season Pass repopulates NYC with 3 DLC expansions

The Division's season pass will entitle owners to three post-release expansions, but all players can expect new game modes to arrive as free updates throughout 2016. After kicking off the game's beta on Xbox One today, Ubisoft laid out some early information on the game's post-release plans, including the names and concepts for those three DLC packs on its official blog.

The first expansion, titled Underground, will open up new areas of subterranean New York for four-player squads to explore (and hopefully fight molemen who are rising up to sever humanity's loosened grip on the surface world, but that's just wishful thinking on my part). Then "Survival" will introduce an even more hostile environment meant to challenge seasoned players. The third expansion will be called "Last Stand," but that's all Ubisoft's gots to say about that.

The Division Season Pass is currently only available as part of the Gold Edition and Collector's Edition of the full game, though it will almost certainly be sold on its own closer to the game's March 8 release date. Pass owners will also get "monthly perks" like exclusive content drops and events, though Ubisoft says The Division won't have any microtransactions.

Even if you don't own the pass - and I'm guessing there will be more than one, if The Division is successful - you'll still be able to enjoy the new game modes Ubisoft plans to introduce throughout the year. These will feature "cooperative challenges that reward your squad’s ability to successfully work together", so hopefully you'll have linked up with a reliable team by the time they start rolling out.
