New Ghost Recon game officially confirmed by Ubisoft after "years" of development, and you can "put it to the test" soon
"We want to deliver a fun, fresh experience that stays true to everything that defines Ghost Recon"
A new Ghost Recon game is on the way from Ubisoft, and the devs are "ready to put it to the test" as fans are encouraged to sign up for closed tests to help shape the title with their feedback.
Last month, Ubisoft hinted that going forward – specifically, looking to its 2027-2028 and 2028-2029 fiscal years – its "content pipeline" of big brands including Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Ghost Recon is expected to be "significantly bigger" than its current lighter slate. That certainly suggested that we could expect more Ghost Recon at some point soon, but now, it sounds like that'll be happening quite imminently.
Speaking during today's Ghost Recon 25th Anniversary stream, live producer Irina-Gabriela Popa delivers the news that fans have been hoping for. "For the past few years, we've been building the next chapter of Ghost Recon," she says. "I'm really excited to share with you that now we're ready to put it to the test, because we want to deliver a fun, fresh experience that stays true to everything that defines Ghost Recon: tactical action, large scale operations, credible military storytelling, and of course, the Ghost Unit."
Fans are encouraged to sign up to Ghost Recon's Insider Program, which will grant early access to closed tests. Ubisoft will use the feedback gained from these to optimize and balance the upcoming game.
What's not currently clear is when the first of these closed tests might be – the fact that the devs are apparently "ready" to test the game definitely implies we won't be waiting long, but at the time of writing, no dates have been given.
For now, at least, we can hold onto the promise of a faithful but fresh experience – seven years since Breakpoint and four since the cancellation of Ghost Recon: Frontline, it's about time fans got fed.

I'm GamesRadar+'s Deputy News Editor, working alongside the rest of the news team to deliver cool gaming stories that we love. After spending more hours than I can count filling The University of Sheffield's student newspaper with Pokemon and indie game content, and picking up a degree in Journalism Studies, I started my career at GAMINGbible where I worked as a journalist for over a year and a half. I then became TechRadar Gaming's news writer, where I sourced stories and wrote about all sorts of intriguing topics. In my spare time, you're sure to find me on my Nintendo Switch or PS5 playing through story-driven RPGs like Xenoblade Chronicles and Persona 5 Royal, nuzlocking old Pokemon games, or going for a Victory Royale in Fortnite.
