Charlie Cox says Marvel might recast Daredevil for Infinity War

For some time now, the idea that Marvel's movies and TV shows would eventually intersect for the two-part Avengers: Infinity War has established itself as fact. Even though no-one at the comic giant has confirmed the notion, that's not stopped rumors of the small-screen characters jumping to the big screen to aid the Avengers in a massive punch-up with Thanos. Even the Russo Brothers say the concept for the film is that "the Marvel universe unites to battle the greatest threat to the world and universe that you’ve ever seen."

If those two worlds manage to join together, there's the small matter of casting. Is it likely we'll see the same actors from the dark, grimy Netflix world enter the bright, popcorn-flick confection of the movie universe? Daredevil's Charlie Cox responded to this in a new interview with ET: "I have not received that call," Cox says. "Can you imagine? That would be the coolest thing ever."

"Marvel TV and Marvel Studios are two very different things," he explains. "So even if the character was to appear in that film, that doesn’t necessarily mean I would appear in the film. I would pick a fight with the guy that they pick. That would be a dream but that’s not something that has been discussed."

It makes sense for Marvel to re-up Cox's contract to include a role in Infinity War - if the character is involved at all. By the time the first installment is released in 2018, the Marvel movie-going public will have spent three years with Cox's version of the Man Without Fear. It'd be a missed opportunity to start over from scratch.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Infinity War - Part 1 is due to arrive in UK cinemas on April 27, 2018 before opening in US theatres on May 4th, 2018. Avengers: Infinity War - Part 2 opens in the UK on April 26, 2019 and in the US on May 3, 2019. Daredevil season 2 arrives on Netflix March 18.
