UPDATE: Capcom has released a Remember Me gameplay demo that makes it look way more interesting than it does in the trailer. You really should watch it.
Capcom has revealed a brand new action-adventure called Remember Me. It's scheduled for a May 2013 release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. As you will see when you watch the trailer below, Remember Me is in no way Monster Hunter related - a fact which will undoubtedly disappoint fans waiting impatiently for Capcom to bring more MH to the west.
Here's the press release bit:
"Neo-Paris, 2084. Take on the role of Nilin, a former elite memory hunter with the ability to break into people's minds and steal or even alter their memories. Arrested, and with her memory wiped clean Nilin must now set out on a mission to rediscover her identity."
So definitely no monster-based hunting. But plenty of amnesia and - from the looks of it - sneaking about, acrobatic melee combat and precarious ledge jumping. Interestingly, Nilin (who looks like Joanna Dark to us) doesn't appear to be equipped with firearms at any point during the trailer. Although her arm-glove thing appears to be bad-ass and powered-up and not just an ordinary glove. Also visible on Nilin is some intriguing neck technology. Neatly implemented HUD or some kind of fancy cybernetic USB drive? It's set in the future so it could be anything.
As Remember Me is the first output from French studio Dontnod Entertainment - a developer with talents from Criterion, EA and Ubisoft amongst its ranks - we've no track record to help inform any early opinion. But hackneyed plot aside, production-wise the game looks nice enough and we see elements of Uncharted and Total Recall and Deus Ex and Blade Runner in there. And if executed well those are some pretty exciting elements to be mixing together.
