Best Amazon Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals 2025: the biggest early sales available now
Amazon Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals are returning July 8
Amazon Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals will land on the digital shelves this summer, with the big sales extravaganza running from July 8, all the way up to July 11.
This year's Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals are bound to be pretty exciting too. The original handheld is celebrating its eighth anniversary, so that's eight years worth of games and accessories ready to see some big discounts, but that's not all. The sparkly new Nintendo Switch 2 is finally upon us, and while I don't expect we'll see any price drops on the console itself, I do expect to see some deals on Switch 2 accessories and older Switch games that are compatible with the new Ninty machine. The deals haven't even begun, and already I've spotted discounts on Switch 2 cases like the tomtoc Slim Carrying Case, so this summer is bound to be fruitful for the new handheld.
I've been covering Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals for years. We know when a discount is rare and when to hold off for more savings. We know which Nintendo Switch bundles are worth grabbing and which ones aren't actually that valuable. The Switch makes up some of the most popular offers amongst Prime Day gaming deals as a whole, and the Switch 2 will likely follow suit, so you can be sure things will be competitive this July. We're putting all that experience to work, bringing you all the biggest discounts from around the web right here.

What to expect from Amazon Prime Day Nintendo Switch game deals
This year's Amazon Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals are in an extra intriguing predicament. Not only does the original handheld now have eight years under its belt, and so plenty of games and accessories that could see some hefty savings. But the addition of the new Nintendo Switch 2 could shake things up even further.
As I briefly touched upon earlier, I don't expect any savings on the actual Switch 2 itself, nor on its Mario Kart World bundle. In fact, I doubt there will even be any stock to go around, with or without a discount. But, its mere existence could push Ninty (and Amazon) to drop the prices of some Switch, Switch OLED, and Switch Lite bundles, older Switch accessories, and even physical Switch games. The latter of which could be especially handy for those who want to build up their new Switch 2 game library on a budget.
Of course, sticking with the last-gen Nintendo Switch to save some extra cash is entirely valid, and next month's Prime Day sales could be more vital than ever to bolstering your existing Switch setup. If you'd rather upgrade to the OLED Switch, rather than the far pricier Switch 2, I've seen as much as $30 / £40 dropped off the upgraded handheld over the last two years. You're more likely to find OLED offers at Walmart in the US though, as Amazon itself hasn't offered too much cash off the shiny Ninty handheld (aside from a fairly permanent £15 discount in the UK), but if other retailers decide to get rid of older OLED stock, Amazon might follow suit this summer.
Nintendo is known to sparingly drop discounts on its first-party games. No matter the year, you're unlikely to see more than $10 off even the latest releases, especially at Amazon. Even launch titles like The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild for the original handheld have rarely seen more than $10 off, and the Switch version of the game launched back in 2017.
Last year's July Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals saw games like Princess Peach Showtime and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door drop in price, with Peach Showtime receiving $10 off in particular. I expect this year will be a similar situation, where it's going to be games released in the last 6 months that will be the ones to get some $10 savings. This summer, some of the last first-party releases for the original Switch, like the Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom, Mario and Luigi Brothership, and Super Mario Party Jamboree, will be the ones to watch.
The Nintendo Switch 2's existence has shaken up this year's Prime Day sales even further. With the console being backwards compatible with older games, I recommend keeping an eye on discounts on titles that perform better on the new device. Notably, older Switch games like Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have now been optimised for the Nintendo Switch 2, with improved frame rates, making it the perfect time to pick it up for your new handheld.
Not only that, but buying older games can actually save you extra cash in the long run. For example, Super Mario Jamboree is receiving its own Switch 2 edition on July 24 with an MSRP of $79.99 / £64.95. However, grabbing the original Switch copy, and later the Switch 2 upgrade pack for $19.99 / £16.99 can be ultimately cheaper in the long run, especially if the base game receives any notable discounts this Prime Day.
When it comes to Switch 2 games, I don't expect to see any discounts on first-party releases this Prime Day. It doesn't help that the Switch 2 launch line-up is pretty sparse when it comes to first-party games, with Mario Kart World being the only brand new Nintendo game available on the device right now.
If you're wanting to see some discounts on Cyberpunk 2077 for Nintendo Switch 2, or even Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut, that could definitely be on the cards. But Mario Kart World is unlikely to see major discounts until we get into the Black Friday deals later this year.
Instead, I recommend keeping an eye on older Switch games that have performance upgrades, or even available upgrade packs on the Switch 2. Both the Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom Switch 2 upgrade packs are included as part of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack memberships. So this Prime Day could be the perfect time to grab the original Switch copies at a discount and enjoy the newly upgraded gameplay when you pop the old Switch carts into your new Switch 2.

What to expect from Amazon Prime Day Nintendo Switch accessory deals
Official Nintendo Switch accessories seldom drop their price tags - you can still expect to pay around $60 for a Pro Controller and $79 for a set of Joy-Con, even now that the Switch 2 has finally been released. However, third-party accessories regularly take some serious discounts over Prime Day - and there are a few you need to have on your radar if you're sticking with the older Switch over the new Switch 2 right now.
The first is the Hori Split Pad Pro, our top pick for the best Joy-Con alternative. The gamepads themselves hold a $49.99 / £44.99 MSRP, but you'll regularly find them on sale day to day for around $45 / £40. Of course, it's worth noting this is not compatible with the Switch 2, but still an ideal Joy-Con alternative if you're not ready to make the next-gen upgrade quite yet.
We'd also recommend watching both the Genki Covert Dock and Genki ShadowCast. These are third party gadgets that open you up to big-screen play on a range of different devices while you're out and about. The former hasn't seen too many discounts so far, but could well drop for the first time over Prime Day. It's got a $59.99 MSRP in the US but that could well dip to $49.99 during July's sales. That's your go-to if you're looking for a portable docking option for a TV. However, if you need to play on a slightly smaller screen (an iPad or laptop, for example), the Genki ShadowCast should be on your list.
Now that the Switch 2 is finally out in the wild, this Prime Day is one to watch for Switch 2 accessories deals. Already, plenty of third-party brands from STEALTH, Spigen, and Snakebyte have a plethora of accessories available to be picked up, all of which could see some decent discounts. In fact, accessory maker JSAUX has already slashed the prices of its Switch 2 accessories, like its 3-Pack Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Nintendo Switch 2 on Amazon - which bodes well for this Prime Day's Switch 2 savings. I'll be keeping a watchful eye on savings on not just Switch 2 screen protectors, but everything from compatible controllers, cases, and especially the new Switch 2 microSD Express Cards, and sharing them here when the sales properly kick off next month.

Weekly digests, tales from the communities you love, and more

Ever since I first held a NES controller in my hand I've been obsessed with gaming, and the hardware it runs on. I could hook up a NES and SNES to a telly, without instructions, before I could walk. Even now, nothing is more exciting then taking a console, or handheld, out the box for the first time and setting it up. This obsession transformed into a love of games and game music, which lead to my music degree and dream of becoming the Scottish Nobuo Uematsu. After sharing my love of games through music, I began to share my love through words on sites like TechRadar and iMore. This lead to becoming a Hardware staff writer for PCGamesN, and later the Senior Tech Writer for Dexerto, covering all things Steam Deck, PlayStation and Nintendo. With that experience, I was able to level up as Hardware Editor for GamesRadar+, where I'm still just as Nintendo, PlayStation and gaming tech obsessed as ever.
